As hissing lawns blogger Larry Jack noted in his weekly preview, there was a garage rock overload last night at The Jinx.
Savannah’s own Superhorse crowded onto the stage not long after 10 — an early start for The Jinx — and ripped through a set that was familiar to those of us who have long been following the 7-piece band. Superhorse has now been around for 20 years, but the group doesn’t come together much anymore. I can’t even remember the last time I saw Superhorse perform, but it was sure great to see them looking and sounding so good.
Superhorse was opening for The Woggles, the kinetic garage rock band that was founded in Athens way back in the 1980s. The crowd at The Jinx sometimes starts thinning out after midnight on Thursdays, but that sure didn’t happen last night. The Woggles were all over the stage, on the floor, on the bar, leaping into the air — I wish more of Savannah’s young musicians had been on hand to see the show.
I took a lot of photos, and I suspect Tom will be posting another set of pics in the coming days. A few more here of The Woggles, and lots of both bands after the jump.
