For fans of…Vampire Weekend, Oberhofer, Cayucas
The Griswolds are a 5-piece band from Sydney, Australia whose debut EP, Heart Of A Lion, has caught the eyes and ears of music bloggers around the globe. They burst onto the Aussie scene in 2012 after winning the Triple J Radio “Unearthed” award and were selected to play alongside Passion Pit at Australia’s largest music festival.
Describing themselves as “the chameleons of pop, the beating drums of euphoria” is pretty dead on. The music is buoyant, colorful and infectious. The title track “Heart Of A Lion” was recently used in the pilot episode of CBS’s new comedy “We Are Men”. It’s a great track (check out the raucous video below) but I’m partial to “The Courtship of Summer Preasley” which has a distinctly Vampire Weekend flair.
The band arrives in the U.S. this week for a six-month stay, extensive touring and the release of their debut album in the 1st quarter of 2014.
